Derrell, Yes, it is indeed an older RedHat. I've been running my primary Pentium 4 desktop on RedHat FC3 for a number of years now, and the system python is 2.3.4 (just missed the right version!). This system does its job well with dual 19" monitors through an nVidia card, but I know that soon I really need to update the whole shebang (pun intended) to the latest hardware and software. Other than some bad memory modules that had to be swapped out at one point, the system has been good to me. I just can't let go of it!
Yes, I had asked this question once before, but I think then my question was about how to edit all of the python script files through a command- line find-and-replace. This time around, I decided it was insane to try to locate and edit all the correct locations for the python command. I just need to make the system work the way I need it to work, and I think you've got the right answer! Once again, *nix rocks!
