For one thing, python 2.x will be around for another couple of years. I
could imagine that distros will carry both versions for a long time,
tagging the newer version with a different name, like "python" and
"python3" (like it was/still is with "apache" and "apache2" bundles). It
will be quite some time before we have to face distros with only python 3
as "python" on them...
