Sorry to keep replying to my own thread, but it also occurred to me that it would be nice to add a method to Object to do just what Matthew described -- get the list of handlers for a particular event. (Right now Object has a hasListeners method, but not a getListeners method.) Unless there is an objection to this, I will add an enhancement request for this.
