Instead of going into any details regarding the Indigo theme I'd rather try
to rephrase my comments from the blog post on a more general line.

When I started using qooxdoo I could choose between two themes: Classic and
Modern. While I found Classic quite cute (but not really applicable in a web
app) I was very slow in getting accustomed to Modern. To my eyes it was
unspectacular, had definetely no wow factor and, therefore, could hardly
hurt anyone's feelings.

Then came the Simple theme - and I was somewhat disappointed. Granted, it's
lightweight in a technical sense which may be quite nice to have in certain
contexts. However, at least for me, it's also lightweight in a visual sense,
i. e. it's even less spectacular and less interesting to play with than the
Modern theme.

Now it should come as no surprise if I say that in my opinion Indigo is
another step towards visual insignificance. There's hardly anything left
that could attract the eye, it's so utterly boring that I would never dare
to present any of my applications dressed in Indigo to a general public.

qooxdoo is such a great and impressive framework, why shouldn't it be
possible to have a theme which is capable to reflect that? I know there are
many people who prefer not to be visually disturbed by a GUI. For them,
there's the Modern and the Simple theme. But there's also a number of people
who enjoy looking at a well designed user interface with sometimes tiny
details that just please their eyes or encourage to explore and play around
with everything their mouse can touch. The Kameleoon app [1] is a perfect
example to illustrate what I mean. It's a pity that this superb theme is not
available as a qooxdoo contribution.

Here you go with my two Euro cents,

  Norbert
