checking mail

Hi All: Is there a way I can tell when someone checks there mail and 
if they downloaded their mail (a qpopper log). I have a few clients 
saying they were sent a message but never received it. The mail.log 
shows were a message came from someone to them. In fact, below is a 
portion of the mail log showing a message from and to..

Oct 16 16:59:00 aesrg sendmail[15048]: i9GLx0qF015048: 
from=<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, size=5193, class=0, nrcpts=1,

The particular client (sally_doe) does not show any email received 
from Oct 15 to Oct 18. Any idea's. Thanks, Jim
