Policy will vary from airline to airline Eric, but this is Federal Law when it applies to wheelchairs and flying. You will surrender your chair at the gate and transfer into a special "aisle chair" that glides down the aisle of the plane. Your chair depending on the pre-ticket flight instructions and the ground crew will remove or disconnect your batteries. Depending on the airport, the ground crew may try to carry or use an elevator to transfer your chair to the belly of the plane. Upon your arrival, the new ground crew will attempt to re-assemble your chair and carry it to the gate as you de-plane. You may be place in general seating or the airline personal may chose to place you in 1st class (depending on the airlines) . If you get stuck in 1st Class, I wish you luck. Enjoy the trip. Make sure that you have the airline's written policy on the method they handle wheelchairs in flight. Carry it with you when you travel. Again, have fun on your trip! W
