SSDI-is essentially a program of the state and is based on need and a
qualifying disability, same as SS. SSDI is not based on work history,
as people getting it usually don't have enough work history to receive
SS.

Not here--SSI is for those who do not have a work history.

SS is based on work history and how much a person has paid into the
system, federal dollars.

SSDI is based on work history and for my job I had reached the maximim after working the equivilant of 10 years. I had 10 years 6 months.

I worked for the State of Ohio for 7 yrs and am therefore qualified

Sounds like its a bit different for state employees.
