Since my SCI, it takes me a long time to fall asleep also, usually 1-2 hours.  I know the reason why it's difficult for me to fall asleep is because of the severe chronic pain I have.  I try and distract from it all day and when I try to fall asleep at night, my brain just won't shut off because it's still trying to distract me from my pain.  Sleeping meds don't help that much either, plus my body ends up getting used to them.  Before my SCI, I would read before I go to sleep and it would help shut my mind off.  Now I can't do that and it sucks.  I'm tired all the time from my pain and from just not getting enough quality sleep for so many years.

Subject: [QUAD-L] falling asleep

Before my SCI I could fall right to sleep when I hit the sack, but post SCI it takes me 1-2 hour to finally fall asleep. Has anyone else experienced this?
