Merrill,
  I have a supra pubic cath & have had less infections. I still have uti's but 
once you have anytype of catheter your body will always fight against a foreign 
body. For men, my Dr told me that a supra pubic catheter helps with less 
infection because of the shaft of the penis, you are prone to more infections. 
This is my answer to it all!
