You know I like being proved wrong, incorrect and contradictions. But as I read the CMS report issued in November of last year and and again earlier, they stated a "Medical Doctor, with certification in Rehab Medicine." This was done to prevent other MDs like foot doctors, PHD, Physic and Chiros from prescribing electric chairs. Perhaps you were one of the lucky ones. I hate to contradict you, Wheel, but any licensed physician can write the prescription if the OT or PT writes the letter of evaluation and medical necessity well enough. I got my letter from an OT in Feb. '07, my prescription from my doctor's PA in Mar. '07 and my chair was delivered April 13, '07. IMO the DME provider makes all the difference by double-checking everything; making sure every "i" is dotted, every "t" is crossed and everything is coded properly. I chose the Quantum 600 and it's been great. I liked the center wheel drive because both my legs are anputated above-the-knee making my weight/balance cause a rear-wheel drive tip easily.
