I did not have a home health nurse to plug me in twice a day as I guess my insurance would only pay for the RNs to show my aid have to do it. I did not have any problems with my pic line. I don't know what your situation is as far as what your insurance will cover. They did have to send a nurse to regularly flush it, check the site and do blood work. The medicines were brought by a pharmacy through VNA , I believe. I should've written it down at the time. VNA did the training for my aide. I was told that if I did not have insurance I would have to go to a nursing home to get administered. Does anyone know if that is correct. Dana In a message dated 3/31/2008 1:33:39 P.M. Do you really want to go to the hospital? If you have a choice, go with a picc line. They are not that bad, and as long as you have the option for a home health nurse to plug you in 2x a day, I would go for that.
