Mark, Yes, trust is a big part of it but I believe in even bigger part of why people are so disillusioned with presidencies (regardless of party) is because campaigns always have promises. Most people don't seem to understand, or remember, that a campaign promise is really just a promise to TRY. In order to get anything done, and the president needs an agreeable majority of the House of Representatives, Senate, and also, often times in the end, an agreeable majority of the Courts.
Without all that, Presidents with even all the absolute best ideas for everyone, can do absolutely nothing but sit as figureheads. Have fun this election season!
