Originally for cow farmers under the name of UDDER BALM, which was used on  
milking cows udders to prevent them from chapping from the electric milking  
equipment.  Farmers wives used it on their hands and faces and skin  rashes.  
It 
was sterile back then until Bag Balm was marketed to the  consumer.
