The nurses at hospitals are well aware of what digital stimulation is. I have
had them sumarily refuse to do it. I no longer go to hospitals. I think it is
bad form for the medical community to put that many incompetent people in one
place. Since I only have Medicare and Medicaid my treatment in hospitals would
be similar to a convicts treatment and the legal aid society. I figure if at
some point, I might be dying, why would I want to be humiliated, too. They
regard so many patients with contempt and I don't have a family to come and do
the stuff the nurses forget.
It has all gone downhill so bad. At one time it was a miracle I was alive. Last
time in the hospital, I was treated like I was interrupting their coffee break,
and I never was given a nurse call button I could use.
I get better treatment for pneumonia from agency nurses.
I'll stop my rant now.
I'm really very jealous of you with tight families and health insurance is what
it amounts to. I'm so afraid that the next time they will dump me on skid row
that I filled out a DNR.

Take care,
john

I have had aides in the past massage my stomach, she also said that you need to
eat, before your BP.  She had just learned that in one of her medical classes
at KU.  I often did not eat in the morning at that time.  Oatmeal is also good
for dieting and so easy to fix.  I usually try to eat low-fat meals and salads
every evening meal with light or no fat dressing .  I have also noticed that
eating oatmeal is a good promoter and also bran cereal and vegetables.  If I go
one day without my bowels working, I usually know there is something wrong.
This is what happens before I get blockages, which are no fun at all.  I was on
Miralax for a couple months.  I like it because it is gentle, not causing
accidents or stomach pain, like I sometimes had with Ducolax pills.  I think it
is good to keep Miralax on hand so you have if needed.  It takes about 24 hours
to work, or it did for me. They also gave me very large glasses of prune juice
with Milk of
Magnesia, which finally worked after a number of days and my stomach the size
of a basketball.  It was very uncomfortable.  I don't think the hospital was
doing my bp correctly.  They did not understand digitals.  I don't know what
would've happened if my mother would not have been there.  I tried to explain,
but that did not help.  I have been eating bran chex, since my hospitalization
for pneumonia the end of February and I believe it really helps.  I eat a half
a cup each morning..

What do other persons do?

Good Advice John and I hope our friend with the PIE system is still watching
over us.  A missed day
or two is not the end of the world, but keep in mind that you have some make up
to do once the bowel cuts loose. Your diet and condition of your body are two
things to consider.  Eat the proper foods and the correct amounts and all
should be ok.  However if you have been binging three meals a day at the local
buffet, then I would have some concerns.  I once remember a Chiropractor that
once claimed that he could massage the stomach/bowel area and cause or create a
bowel movement.  How he did it I'll never know.  It was his claim.
That oatmeal in the morning or at night is great roughage on the body and it
absorbs excess acids and toxins as it travels thru your system.  Just ask John,
lol.

Best Wishes and a smooth movement for you.

I went 10 days once after surgery. That Enema machine that one dude was pushing
would be nice.
First thing you do is relax. Do not get upset, you aren't a clock. If you have
Mirilax,(Glyco-lax) double your dose. If you haven't got it, get it and use it.
made about when he lies Your bowels will misfire even if your not a quad.

Best wishes,
john
