I fully comprehend that it is not feasible the very cables in all areas, but it does help protect the grid if everything is updated and the cables efficiently protected.
The US government is looking at ways to upgrade the electrical grid. This is an infrastructure problem and one that needs to be resolved. We are losing way too much energy through our outdated electrical grid and the stimulus could provide funds or tax breaks which would encourage the electrical companies to get off their dead asses and do something about the electrical problems here. You'd be surprised how much Europeans know about American news. When a significant number of Americans lose power, it makes the news over there. My ex-wife and her friends are just amazed at how frequently a large number of people lose power from winter storms. That just doesn't happen too often in Europe. I mean come on. We have a winter every year and we should be prepared to handle it in the 21st century. Like I said in my previous e-mail, it isn't like this is a once every 50 year event. Winter occurs every year and usually there are ice storms every few years.
