I used to have a similar problem, but unfortunately I am having problems
with loose stools and severe bowel pains.

As for trying to eliminate hard stool, it is difficult if it has entered
your lower track.  I have been told by physicians that once this stool
enters your lower track it is more likely to have all of the fluid extracted
from it.  I found roughage, brand, Metamucil, and large amounts of water
have helped me overcome constipation in the past.
