Another thought: With an AC-powered blanket you could use an X-10 controller 
connected to your computer (CM11-A or Firecracker) to power on/off.

SB device it will tally depending on what operating system you are running, 
which gives you not only a warning but a way to shut it off immediately. The 
third reason I like it is more of a personal preference but it is a geek 
gadget. Let me know what you think, basically I am depending on your feedback
