Hi, We did intermitton cath for 3 years, a bit of blood is no big deal, can be
a
scrape or some blockage forming called (stricters) not sure if I spelled that
correctly. After over 2 years of intermitten cathing I would bleed minor too
quite a bit at times and have trouble getting the catheter to go in--I had
developed stricters--(scar tissue and blockage ) well my urologist operated on
this and all went good for a while then they returned...after a 2nd surgury to
remove it, my doctor told me it was best to get a supra-pubic indwelling type
catheter......I have had that for about 10 years now.  Dan H.

Subject: [QUAD-L] scrape uretha with intermittent catheter

My aide had trouble pushing the catheter into the bladder.
She pulled it out and spot of blood on catheter, so we just put a condom
catheter on last night.
This morning my night bag had blood in it and 1000cc of urine.
And a few drops of blood coming out the penis hole.(ouch)

I decided not to intermittent cath today so we would not iratate it.
I am wearing condom catheter.
I never had this happen in 14 years.

I am worried. Should I drink alot or not much?

any suggestions how to heal it?

I usually wear condom catheter and change it at night & morning.
I do intermittent cath to drain the bladder in between changing condom cath.

Thanks in advance,
Derrick W
