Well if it's taken you 39 years to go through all that, your doing good.
There's quads out there that have gone through more in lots less time.  I'm
c5/6 incomp. 24 years and had my share but look forward to more.  One day
you'll find the reason your still here.  My neighbor had the first vocal cord
transplant here in the U.S. a year and a half ago at u.c. Davis.  before that
she had been through all kinds of medical issiues, she was on the tv show the
Dr.s last fall.  Her name is Brenda,  you might want to look it up and read
about it.  I myself am not giving up till I hear dirt hitting the top of my box.

Hi All,
I've been dealing with this C-4,5,6,7 quad life for almost 39 years and  "…
I thought all I'm going to have to deal with is not being able to walk" I've
come to realize ~ that's the easy part. I also thought I was never going to be
dating but I met my first boyfriend in ICU and only stopped dating 9 years
later when I met my husband in a bar.
I've gone through insane mussel spasms, sweating day and night (including
winters) for 15 years, bed sores, surgery, urological procedures (that I no
longer do) illiostomy surgery, bed sore surgery, ryzodomy surgery, bed sore
surgery, depression, syrnix, in bed for 9 months because of bed sores, breaking
my leg while dancing, depression. I can't help but think
"What's next as my quad body ages"?
I sooooooooo realize things could be worse, but is THAT a comfort?
