Oh contraire mon frère. I type 28 words a minute with just my one pinky nuckle. As far as sex goes, my thumbs work amazingly well and because my hands are closed I can grasp a dildo or vibrator very well. Trust me, closed hands work very well. Not to mention the ability to stroke my own luv stick...lol

Mine are straight, I’m ok with it...easier to type I would think.
And I can do stuff during naked time....with a girl...Smile.....that
I imagine I can’t do if my fingers were curled.

I'm sorry but the position your hand was in during your spinal injury has nothing to do with your hands curling. Your body naturally wants to curl up and twist from atrophy. I promise all quads that are c5 or c6 that letting your hands close into a fist will be the best thing for you. You will be way more independent and be able to do more. Most people think my hands look normal until I try to shake hands.

i'd have to argue that theory given about 90% of quads have curled fingers. :-)

I was told by my Doctor's that the reason my finger's are curled up is 
because "… the position your finger's are in when your nerves are 
severed is how they will stay." I personaly had my fingers wraped 
around motor cycle handles when I broke my neck.
    How about the rest of you. What position were your hands when you 
broke your neck and are they in the same position?      Bobbie

not curled up. We do range of motion and work the fingers everyday but 
other than getting partial feeling back in the right hand they haven’t

left hand (I'm a lefty) my index finger is straighter so I have a 
little pinch when I twist my wrist up. With hands closed I can drive, 
write, ps2 with handles, rc cars, fish, hold stuff, plus lots more. If 
your thinking about a cure for later don't worry they will make your 
hands open again. I personally never think about a cure and could

Mine have been locked closed like a fist since day on in the 1970s 
Nobody ever tried to straighten them out ever. It has been advantage to 
have them curled up and locked … I'm able to one doors very easily

I was wondering what you guys do about your fingers… mine are becoming 
stiff and locked up… obviously I want to be able to use my fingers 
again someday and was wondering if you guys could give me some 
information on how you keep your fingers in good health… right now my 
caregivers stretches them twice a day but its only getting worse and 
I’m getting worried…
