Right after my injury in 1982 I met a guy named Tim who was a mentor to me. He had been living with quadriplegia for ten years already and I couldn't imagine that--ten years! But, he made a huge impact on me because he drove a van, had a girlfriend and could open his own beer bottles!
Tim told me that whenever you feel a UTI coming on you should drink a six-pack of beer. That sounded like medical advice I could live with! :) I don't recommend his medical advice, but the key idea was flushing out the kidneys and bladder with copious amounts of fluid. Lots of water, vitamin C, water, D-Mannose and more water will go a long way in knocking those little critters out of your system. I think I feel a UTI coming on. I may try the remedy of Dr. Guinness from Ireland. Make your bladder gladder! Don.
