You hit the nail on the head Dan. The only way you can survive in a nursing home is with constant overseeing by the family. Even then when the front doors lock the games begin. The attendents order pizza, turn on the radio, talk to their boyfriends and little gets done. Same can be said for a long hospital stay, you better have family support.

Nursing homes will only care for the ones that have family members very involved in visiting and checking on their care..to them it is a job and they are not related, so it is more work for them.....we found this out with my grandmother, so we had all willing relatives rotate days or nights of visits and checking up on her needs. She had many kids and grandkids so got good care. Ron & all quads, I went to visit a quad friend in a nursing home. They had him in the very last room down the hall. He said his roommate would beg for water everyday until he died in his sleep. There has to be a better way to deal with old and disabled folks without family support. I told my mom, can you imagine if you put a hidden camera in each room at nursing homes.
