Ron, something like this makes Lawyers and their Clients ...... rich. I
truly hope there was ample documentation on this matter. The Omnibus Rep
does not work for the nursing home and should have completed some
documentation on this matter. Maybe its just because I am not privy to ALL
the facts.

You are correct W, there is a representative you can contact. My mother
was in constant communication with them about my g-ma. What it finally came
down to was they told my mother if shes not happy with the care to take her
out. Another thing that they did was put my g-ma in a locked down hallway
where noone saw anything and you had to enter a code to get in or out. My
mother went there three times a day unannounced to give her sips of water. In
the end it wasnt enough, Im glad her suffering is over but it was a slow
way to go.

Dumb me... but don't nursing homes have Omnibus Representative one can
call to report abuses. When I see a crime, I call the police. When I see a
fire... I call the fire department. If I was in a nursing home and I heard
someone yelling for water and not getting attention, I'd call someone and
give a room number just that fast.

Nursing homes will only care for the ones that have family members very
involved in visiting and checking on their care..to them it is a job and they
are not related, so it is more work for them.....we found this out with my
grandmother, so we had all willing relatives rotate days or nights of
visits and checking up on her needs. She had many kids and grandkids so got
good care. (but it is awful to want water and they can't at least fit that in
) Dan H*

Ron & all quads,
I went to visit a quad friend in a nursing home. They had him
in the very last room down the hall. He said his roommate would beg for
water everyday until he died in his sleep. Bobbie

I agree, if you live to be 90 sitting in a nursing home, unable to get a
drink of water........waiting to die, life can be worse than death itself.
My grandma just died in a nursing home at 89 yrs old of thirst. they wouldnt
even give her drinks of water throughout the day. Imagine the hell of
that, with a pitcher sitting on the table near you. People will save a rabies
infested dog quicker than they would help an old person................the
world is getting sick. There has to be a better way to deal with old and
disabled folks without family support. I told my mom, can you imagine if you
put a hidden camera in each room at nursing homes. She said that wouldnt
work because every attendent and nurse would be fired, lol.
