Like some of you, I've participated in numerous studies of all sorts throughout
the years. I happen to enjoy most of them, and always feel some satisfaction
knowing that I have helped someone and contributed, in my small way, to the
body scientific.
My favorite study was an exercise study conducted by a PHD candidate at AZ
State University. She broke two groups of subjects with SCI into those
exercising while sitting up, and those exercising while prone (laying flat) to
see if there was a significant difference in outcomes (there was not.) It was
fascinating research and I was even invited to watch her defend her thesis.
Another study I was in involved underwater weighing--that one was NOT fun.
Anyhow, I'll participate--paid or not--as long as I feel the research is
legitimate. Sometimes if they can't afford to pay participants they'll enter
the names in for a drawing of some sort.
Be well!Don PC5-6 Tempe, AZ
