I used to sell an American product out of Wisconsin called AMS/OIL.
Their spray penetrant/lubricant was called MP (metal protector)
and not only did it blow any other rust cutter away and with instant
reddish brown results, but it left a super-light oil film that remained
stable over time. Stuff like WD-40 sucks; non only does it not cut rust
or penetrate but it has no oxidative stability whatsoever and eventually
turns very tacky (especially when accelerated by proximity to engine heat-
carb linkage etc.)

I have silenced so many noisy alternator, generator and water pump bearings
etc., I can't count. Granted when there is rattle indicating wear/freeplay,
a periodic re-application is in order. . . but you'll be instantly satisfied.

But the main point here is that the above is the lightest oil I have ever found
to be durable enough to stay even on a wheel stud, and yet have total oxidative
stability, which believe me is rare in oils of any appreciable film strength.

Because of its attributes I used to say, "from typewriters to tie-rod end nuts".

Cheers,
Terry
