You've reminded me of the burnmark left on the white painted desk I used to use with 
my Amiga :). As the CPU upgrade
went face-down underneath the computer, it sat about 2/8 of an inch above the desk. It 
sent the paint brown and would
shine skin when touched, it ran that hot!

It worked well for at least 6 years all the same, and used very regularly. Happy 
li8ttle frying pans, those cpus!.
