Pull off the dizzy cap.

Mine sat for the best part of a year doing nowt thanks to a dumb
blonde in a 4x4 - (7 days after I paid £150 to tax it - but due to tax
laws here - car tax - not the income ones - I could not get the money
back unless I scrapped the car! crazy!!)

It ran a few times, fine, just ticking over on the drive. Went to go
to Coastguard duties and the thing would not fire at all.

A new dizzy cap cured the problem, for some reason, sitting doing
nothing with the odd turn over now and then wore down the old dizzy
cap centre in short order.

I had pops too, I think the air box amplifies them as they went when I
was checking for fuel delivery tracking the fault down with the air
box off.
