Thanks chaps for your advice. As I've not touched the alarm wiring I plugged the box back in. For some reason it turned the indicators on permanently so I unplugged it again. Tried to start up with it out & she sprang to life after about 8 goes, so I strapped myself in & trotted off for a quick run to test the mk2 gauges I got & the work fine. Had a few misfires whilst I was out so I'll have a look at getting a new dizzy cap & getting the old girl a good tune up. She unfortunately has to live outside covered up, so the cold/damp weather has probably played havoc with the weber carb. Looks like the loud pop I heard was fuel/carb related & nothing more serious. I'll have to make sure I start her up more often & give her a quick run up & down to make sure nothing seizes. Thanks once again for your tips/ suggestions
