I got the quantum running great with the dcnf's I got from Robert (thanks
again) & decided that I would be changing the camshaft as the one fitted is
a bit of a unknown.

As I already posted my quantum is fitted with a ivor Searle recon engine (it
was fitted when I got it).

Its always been a little iffy when it came to oil pressure and it always has
been very low at idle when hot.

It started flashing the pressure light on the dash and the gauge was showing
very little at idle so I changed the oil/filter. No improvement.

Decided that something must be done before its too late.

I've had the sump/oil pump removed (by my mate) and the oil pump is a little
scored but not bad. The big end bearings are also passable. Took the main
bearings out and they are the type with the oil groove in both halves.

My local engineering firm has told me they are the pre 86 type as the post
86 engines had a plain bearing in the main bearing caps.

As my engine has 87 cast into the block could this be the cause of the
engines poor oil pressure?

Anyone any ideas?

Thanks

Paul
