The pressure was dropping to nearly zero on the gauge (flickering about the endstop) with the light full on. I used 10w40 when I changed it. Main reason was the oil was free and I doubted it would alter the fact it had low pressure.
Turns out that it has the correct type bearing fitted as the others have a slightly different tab and wont fit. I'm putting a new set of bearings in it with a high pressure pump from burton. Hopefully this will sort it. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Bob Craig Sent: 14 May 2009 08:09 To: Quantum Owners Group Subject: [Quantum Owners] Re: CVH pre/post 86 changes What pressure was your gauge showing. Haynes says the min should be 14 thingys (thats the technical description). If your oil is quite old, it could be thinning out when warm. Coincidentally, mine has started doing the same after fitting the DCNFs but the oil definately needs changed, so I'll be doing that first. Go for a good quality oil but not a really high spec synthetic for modern cars. I dont think the hyrdraulic tappets like it. As a matter of interest, what oil do other people use?
