I might do that - this belt has only been on for about 3 months/1000 miles. >Bare in mind that the standard ecu may not be entirely happy with the >new cams, especially if they are a high spec. >The current engine in my Mondeo came with sport cams and a gas flowed >head and now has a much rougher idle and tendency to stall on hot starts. >All of the injection and ignition system is standard and off the old >engine so i'm pretty sure theres no faults causing it. >Oh, it also does 5mpg less and doesn't feel greatly faster. >I think it needs a correctly mapped ecu to take advantage of it. > >Jim > Bah! Fie upon this fancy fuel injection stuff. I think my twin Webers should cope OK. Might have to tweak the idle screws slightly I suppose... The Cat Cams guy gave me a choice of cam profile, so I went for a very mild upgrade. I've had big, lumpy cams in a Sprint engine and driveability definitely suffered. The only "gain" was lots of power right where I rarely needed it. Cat deliberately don't quote figures, but "suggest" about 5-8% improvement in both BHP and torque is likely. Sounds promising if true. I'd never have spent the RRP on such a low increase though. -- Tony Vincent --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Quantum Owners Group" group.
