That said, I'd obviously take the opportunity to revamp a lot of the rest of the car as well. It gets damp inside (possibly door seals, probably boot seal, certainly rear window), and it's been suffering electrical gremlins, so I might just try a complete loom swap (maybe using the Mondeo loom). This loom has been hacked about for the ERST installation, and I don't want to compound the problems with further modifications for a diesel lump.
Using the complete Mondeo loom would be a lot of work, the dash switchs and the instrument cluster won't be compatible with the Mondeo loom, along with almost everything else electrical needing plugs changing and wires extending/shortening. I'd use the Mondeo engine sub loom and graft that onto a unmolested Fiesta loom.
It will only need a few wires joining between the looms.
I'm happy to help with the wiring.
Andy, which "lip" is it that needs modifying? Are we talking about at the bottom/front of the bay? As long as it's not one of the structural parts at the sides of the bay, it sounds straightforward enough.
It is the "rail" along the side of the engine bay.
It needs to be cut away and recreated further up (or is it down).
What happens with the fuel tank. Does the diesel injection pump have integral swirl pot? Could I fit a normal Fiesta tank in place of the injection one I have now?
Not certain about the fuel tank, i believe the Diesel tank has a swirl pot as well.
Does the intercooler need to be moved from its position at the top/rear of the engine bay? It's pretty high there, must be fairly close to the bonnet.
The Diesel saloons i've seen have used an Escort RS Turbo rad and intercooler.
