The userids and passwords were created when the new website was
setup and were emailed out to everybody who had a
current membership at the time. If there was no email address associated
with the membership then obviously there would be no email.
Also if the email was incorrect then the mail would not get through to
the correct recipient.
Many of the accounts that I have fixed lately have been because the
user's email address has changed but they have not notified the
membership secretary.
The idea of the new website was to make some information available
to all, but to keep some secure to members only, as this would hopefully
encourage owners to become a member. If there was a facility to create
your own userid then this would open the site to abuse.
New userids are created and the owner notified as soon as I get
notification from the membership secretary and I do my best to get these
done as quickly as possible taking work into account, as I am not
allowed to use the internet at work other than for work related matters.
I hope this makes the working a bit clearer.

Incidentally, I've noticed that if you go tohttp://quantumowners.co.uk
you are taken to what looks like Steve Kodz's personal site. It's only
if you add the 'www' that you get to the club site.
Perhaps a DNS tweak is in order, or is this by design?
