I've finally managed to get hold of a flywheel from a TD Escort van. Got the clutch too, for matching purposes. The ring gear IS the same size as the mondeo, but the van clutch is a bit smaller. Hopefully that will simply translate to a lighter pedal.
Only problem now is that the new flywheel sits a bit further out from the engine than the mondeo one, far enough that I doubt the crank pickup will operate. It looks like the pickup sits in some sort of aluminium adapter bracket, so I hope I'll be able to fix the problem by modifying the bracket a little. After that, it should be just a case of getting a new clutch, bolt the gearbox back on, bung it all in the car and then spend the next few months trying to sort out the engine electrics. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Quantum Owners Group" group.
