According to the building manual of the 2+2 (XR2 based) the rear brake
cylinders need to be of a fiesta 1.1 - 17mm ! ! !
Not the standard 19mm XR2 brake cylinders.
Using the larger XR2 rear brake cyliners will change your breaking - More
pressure/travel/oil needed for the same result /

Thanks for all your comments. I have now got hold of a pair of the XR2
rear slave cylinders as these are approx 2mm dia larger than the
standard items. Servo and master cylinder is the later type after
1986. All brake components are new.Took rear drums off and found about
20% of shoe touching drum. Need to drive car to bed in shoes but cant
do that till it passes IVA test bit of a catch 22. Will reprofile
shoes as best as can. Eddie Ruskin very helpfull chap, spoke to him
about gross weight of car and immediatly sent letter confirming weight
to be less than 1190kg which should be accepted by VOSA and means
brakes will pass in present state. Hopefully another Quantum will be
on the road soon.

No, Jim. There was some confusion about what they actually were, not
helped by motor factors sending the wrong bits, but it seems they were
xr2 (not xr2i) all along, and that's what the Mondeo V6 carriers
bolted on to.
I wanted the larger version of the discs - about another 10mm - but I
was constrained by what I could get hold of that included the
carriers. That said, it stops on its nose...
