If you search around you should be able to get your Zetec H4 converted for about £800. I paid less than £1000 to convert our SAAB 9000 2.3 turbo and that needed an uprated mixer.
I have looked into this for my H4 but have not done it as I don't use it enough to justify the cost. The installer I approached said there would be no problem fitting the tank instead of the spare wheel carrier, but you will need some reinforcing straps on the inside of the boot floor. I've had no problem with the SAAB in cold weather as it doesn't cut over from petrol to LPG until the coolant temperature has reached a certain level. I had heard of some valve issues with LPG on the Zetec E too but you could always fit a flashlube kit if you were worried. I've had a converted BMW, two SAABS and a Jaguar and had no valve issues with any of them.
