Was this a front or rear wheel bearing ?

Yes there could be a connection as if the bearing was that loose the first
action of your brakes would be to try and pull everything into line. This would
gives an odd feel to the brakes indeed.
Watch out for using mole grips on brake pipes as the sharp edges of the grips
can damaged the brake pipes. You can get special grips with rounded profiles
especially for this job from halfrauds or a motor factors.
Good luck

managed to get my car to a different garage today who tightened the
wheel bearing that was causing the wobbling. They advised me how to
check the master cyinder and the other cylinders with a little test
using molar clips. going to do this, this weekend and hopefully get it
sorted. The brakes felt soo much better after the wheel bearing was
tightened or is that just me? could there be a link?
Many thanks

Do you know if Ford still sell them or is it a case of eBay again?
From what you were describing about the servo seal being temperamental I
think that's my problem.

You can't repair servos, they are crimped together, you need to replace it.
You can (or used to) be able to buy seal only or seals and piston kits to
repair the master cylinder.

If the master servo seal is on its way out, who sells them?
