I have the 1.1 springs and shocks on the rear with standard XR2 springs and
struts on the front. It sits at a good height for speed bumps etc and combined
with a set of Toyo Proxies R888 tyres (185/60-14) the handling is superb. On a
dry day i can just about keep up with a well sorted 7s and on damp and slightly
wet, I can leave them behind (mainly due to front wheel drive and modest power
but the handling is also a factor). Mine is No 267, so slightly later than both
your and Jims.

suspension

Usually the 1.1 ones are used i think as they were the most common model.
The later Quantum specific springs are powder coated red but i'm sure the
first Quantum specific springs they used were still black.

When i first drove my 2+2 i didn't like the handling at all, i went back to
Quantum about a year later and got another set of there current spec shocks and
springs (by then red).
The original shocks were new Quantum supplied standard Monroes, the later
ones were Monroe Sensatracs and were much better.
A few years later still i changed all the rubber bushes to poly ones, and
then changed the shocks to GAZ (coil overs at the front), only then was i happy
with the handling.
But it is now very low.

  Jim
