I am now confused, when I did the transplant I used the cvh clocks with the zetec ecu, All I did was connect the output from the ecu to the old coil wire that fed the rev counter. This gives me the rev readings that I would expect, idle at just below 1000 etc. Could this be something that varies with the ecu type?

The Zetec runs it from a dedicated output from the ECU, if you connect that to the CVH rev counter it will show twice the revs. If you are still using the CVH main wiring and instrument cluster then you can switch the rev counter connection back to one of the zetec coil connections and it will work fine (keep the CVH suppressor in circuit). What combination of wiring looms do you have now ?
