Hiya I would agree - my old (retired) mechanic said he used to keep a know good one of each type in a drawer as they used to fail regularly. Mine died totally - full (!) power, then absolutely nothing... Tried to start it 2 days later - the car fired - sounded ok, then 2 mins later - stopped, and never worked again.
Depending on your engine - check the code on ebay - I got a Ford pattern one from the local factors for £30 or so, but a Land Rover pattern unit was £10. Identical units - go figure...
