Yes, that was my thoughts as well.
Use clear illumination with orange filters on the currently white bits.
Maybe change the red/blue section to graduated red/blue strips with orange
in between.
Would be good if it still looked white when the illumination is off.
I will talk the sign guy next door when they are back next week.
I don't get on so well with paint so coloured plastic would work better for
me :-)

Trouble with coloured leds is they almost always shine through their
original colour regardless of what filter is in front, my rear indicators
still shine orange despite the lenses being tinted red, which makes me
think, if you / we use clear leds in the heater panel, (these can be
manipulated in colour to a degree) masking off the blue / red then spray
paint tint the clear / white inner track with orange tint spray in enough
layers to match the rest of the dash this should work and still allow the
red/ blue to be back lit?
