The recognised gearbox experts for type 9 think there is, so who knows?
Presumably there is a difference, otherwise they wouldn't have different
numbers. I suspect it may not be noticeable in normal road use, and it's
probably more important that oil seals are good and level is correct.
Only time (hopefully long) will tell.

I was assuming it was a Mk2 Fiesta box.
The 75W90 he found from Halfords will be fine for that.
It specifies it's compatible with GL4 and GL5 so there can't be a significant
difference between them.

If it's a type 9 the consensus is 75/90 GL4 not 5. GL4 is semi-synthetic,
GL5 is Synthetic and the additives will (apparently) ensure the synchro hubs
don't grip enough to work.

Type 9 is a RWD gearbox.
I thought this was a Mk2 Fiesta ?
That would be a BC or possibly a B5 gearbox.
I think you will need around 3.5 litres, only fill it to the height of
the filler hole (or strictly speaking a bit lower on later boxes).
But, unless the gearbox has been put on it's side with the drive shaft
hole down there will still be a lot of oil in the gearbox.
