Thanks All, Seems like the repair did not take, so it needs doing again. I removed the connector at one side and measured across the tabs to get 1.4 K Ohm. I will try again with some different compound.
I agree about the ventilation, but it seems so far no one has found a definitive answer to that. Where to vent and how to make it visually acceptable. I did wonder about the lower boot lid area which would work well with slots in the rear shelf, so maybe that is a way forward. We had an old Jag XJ6 X300 that had vents in the boot floor. So more or less invisible. They had a plastic vent grill and foam filter in the gap. One old fashioned way to de-mist is still available - its a sucker attached heating element that warms air, which rises over the inside of the window. I don’t know how effective it is though.
