I assume you mean it hits the front tie bar bracket.
Is that bracket made from pressed steel like the other side or from Cast
steel ?
The CVH has to have the cast steel version of the bracket to clear the
alternator.
There are also various versions of the alternator mounting, with it
hanging below or mounted above the bracket.
The version where it sit above the bracket is usually better and a
shorter than normal belt helps keep it clear of the frame.
You may need to undo the tensioner bracket bolt to get the belt on
initially though.
