using the unofficial API has never stopped Kineme ;). You already have created new "texture" and "grid" data types.
:) I'm just saying, all the official-api devs here will hit a wall at some point, and this is one of those cases :)
Could the "grid" structure in the gltools 0.4 plugin be extended into a generic 3d mesh data type which all the loaders could support?
We've already got a 3D Object port alive and kicking :) And there are a few different supported formats (I _So_ can't believe I'm posting this on the list....... I must be tired ;), so yes, we can extend it, and it's already done :) http://kineme.net/FeatureRequests/objloader#comment-653 (this was 6 weeks ago, it's a bit more sophisticated than that now). Note how it passes the object along a wire. There are some simple deformation patches, but nothing fancy (not enough feedback for deformation stuff from the alpha testers/not enough hours in the day to code everything I want to :).
and it's been 'framework-ized' so others can use it once we release it. but that's not for a while.
