Here are some use cases: 1) The ability to see all the VMs currently running in one easy spot. This helps me remember to shutdown certain VMs that I forgot to shutdown when I was done with them. 2) The ability to know which template VMs need updating. 3) Related to 2, which appVMs need to restart since their template was updated. 4) Easy place to make changes to VMs like expanding their available disk space.
To sum up Rory's point. It is a clean visual way to get a lot of information. I get that there's a new infrastructure so you'd have to rebuild it from scratch but it was a handy tool. Warts and all. At least for me.
