There doesn't seem to be answer to the question here, so I'll answer it. The mentioned setup doesn't seem to work with Qubes OS 4.0.3. Probably because the setup needs a newer kernel than the 4.0.3 version of Qubes OS comes with. But it might work with the new 4.1 version of Qubes, but that version isn't stable yet.
