Wow you're really getting into the stuff. Anyway you're a funny guy so it's only natural that you'd mess around with funny things... but I must say my experience with midi isn't that great. Really all I do is create and edit midis, sometimes for my own use and sometimes for clubs and other parties I go to. I am fascinated about all the things synths can do, but it's going to be a super long time before I can find out how to modify midis in ways like that. I guess I do too much audio work instead of midi work, because if I needed envelope or eq controls I'd just use audio software, since I convert most of my midis to audio anyway. All I use directly in midi is reverb, pan, chorus, modulation (just the vibrato kind), track volume, and aftertouch if I need it. Boy, aren't I spoiled?

On 4/1/2008, 4:47:59 PM EDT, Raymond posted a plaque on the town hall, proclaiming:

And it applies for all instruments too,
even pianos!

Most keyboards are cool enough not to have modulation mapped to vibrato
in piano patches, of course.
Really, modulation is kind of a loose term -- it can be used for just
about anything. Volume, pan, filter resonance, specific effect
parameters... It all depends on the complexity of your equipment, and how flexible the routing matrix happens to be.
Then you can of course do fun things, like chaining parameters to low
frequency oscillators, and using additional controllers, such as mod
wheel, aftertouch, ribbon controllers, breath controllers (like the
Yamaha BC-3), and sliders (if you have them) for
other interesting sound possibilities.
