> [Neil] DEVOTED's run was huge too. Although knocked sideways at
the 300m by GIJ, he made ground strongly when rebalanced to finish
3.4 lengths from RECURRING. This race was a prime example of why I
detest investing in races less than 1400m.

>[Trevor] I know its always wise to be smart after the event, but I
figured Recurring would be thereabouts - he's run pretty well against
the best sprinters in Oz, without being brilliant - I'm not sure he
could have held out GIJ on a dry track. And yes me too - when I look
at my success rate at 1200 it's not that good either. The problem
with 1200 metres (and 2yo & 3yos) is that there's always a fresh
runner there which you over look - 2004 it was Vinaka.
> I'll have another crack at the pregnant LASHED in the Zabeel
Classic. But whether or not she can give ST REIMS a start and a
beating under WFA conditions is debatable. The one barrier draw must
be used to advantage if she's to run him down.
[Trevor] As you know I'm a St Reims fan - he opened at $2.25 - Its my
opinion he's the best 2000 metre horse in NZ at the moment - Lashed
was unbeatable in 2004, but she's shown no form this season. She'll
need to be fully fit to sustain one of his grinding runs.

Trevor
