This is disastrous news. I've been downloading these for years and my
current files go back to 1/1/03. The beauty of the current format is that
it's tabulated . . . in my case, the first move I make is to run my eye down
the stakemoney column and check out every runner who's coming from a race or
races with a sizeable increase over the current prizemoney. There are other
advantages also but that's the first and most obvious one.
I note that this format they're trying to foist on us has comments for each
runner — as welcome to me as Fashions in the Field — so I suppose someone's
ego is involved.
I had a run-in with TAB Customer Services last September when the RUNNER
button was omitted from a couple of fields. This was my first request
followed by the TAB's answer . . .
There is no facility to download the meetings at Tauranga and Wanganui in
printable Adobe PDF format.

Hi,
You can access the fields via the form guides. Click on Racing Form
then from the next page Easyform guides for each meeting required. This
gives the fields together with form and a short comment next to each runner.

About six emails per side later, during which time I was moved up the chain
of command to Mike's boss — a woman who would know as much about betting on
New Zealand racing as Osama bin Laden's third wfe — I finally got through to
the dummies that I wanted to download, and keep, the form guides. I imagine
the staff who compile the guides are racing people but it seems to end
there. The rest of them seem to be marketing types who view racing as a "fun
pastime" or whatever the current catchphrase is.
They can expect a burst from me.
